Flood Alert: Major Wave Enters Nepal’s Bhote Koshi, High alert in Bihar

Patna/Kathmandu: A major flood wave has reportedly entered Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River from the Tibetan side, prompting alerts across the Trishuli basin and raising concerns about possible downstream impacts in Bihar.

The water flow follows the Bhote Koshi → Trishuli → Narayani (Gandak) → Bihar → Ganga river system. If the surge travels downstream, districts including West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran and Vaishali could potentially experience rising water levels.

Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been urged to remain alert and closely monitor official flood and weather advisories. However, the available information does not necessarily indicate that a major flood will occur in India.

The situation will depend on the volume of water entering the river system, rainfall in the catchment areas, and the subsequent rise in river levels as the wave moves downstream.

Residents in low-lying and riverside areas should avoid unnecessary movement near riverbanks and remain prepared to move to safer locations if authorities issue evacuation warnings.
