Five Killed After Car jumped divider Flips Into KSRTC Bus
Five people died in a late-night road accident near the Jindal flyover on the outskirts of Bengaluru after a speeding car lost control and crashed into a state transport bus.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm when an Indica car traveling from Tumakuru toward Bengaluru rammed into a divider, flipped twice, and then collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus carrying 42 passengers. Despite the violent impact, no passengers on the bus were injured, says report.
Four occupants of the car died instantly at the scene as the vehicle was crushed beyond recognition. The driver, identified as Likhith, was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Police said one of the deceased passengers has been identified as Harshith, a second-year college student. The identities of the remaining victims are still being verified.
Emergency responders had to cut through the wreckage to retrieve the bodies. Traffic on the stretch was disrupted for over an hour as rescue teams cleared debris and conducted a preliminary inspection.
Investigators suspect overspeeding and possible loss of control as primary factors, though a mechanical examination of the vehicle has been ordered. CCTV footage from nearby junctions is being reviewed to reconstruct the sequence of events.
