NDA MPs Demand Rahul Gandhi to Apology Over Baseless Remarks in Parliament

New Delhi: A political row erupted in Parliament after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi alleged during a debate on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill that police firing on July 20, 2026 was carried out on the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The allegation, made without presenting supporting evidence or official documents during the debate, drew sharp criticism from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its NDA allies. BJP MPs demanded that Rahul Gandhi withdraw his remarks and issue an apology.

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said, “He has to apologise. You cannot spread lies like this and level such serious allegations against someone.”

The ruling alliance accused Rahul Gandhi of making unsubstantiated claims on the floor of the House, while opposition members defended his right to question the government and seek accountability.

No official evidence has been publicly produced to substantiate the allegation that the July 20 police action was ordered by the Home Minister. The government has rejected the claim, calling it baseless.

The exchange further intensified the ongoing confrontation between the government and the Opposition, with Parliament witnessing repeated heated debates over law and order and legislative proceedings.
