Two lecturers from Karkala who had gone for a swim in the Tunga river were watered down

The incident took place when two lecturers who had gone for a swim in the Tunganadi were drowned. One of them was found dead. The search for the other body continues.

The incident took place near Tirtha Mattur village of Tirthahalli taluk of the district where two professors who went swimming in Tunga river got drowned. The deceased have been identified as Puneeth (36) and Balaji (36), professors of Nitte PU College in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.

The lecturer had come on a trip with his friends. Stayed at a home stay near Theerthamattur Mutt in Theerthahalli. Later this morning they had breakfast and went swimming near the river.

At this time, Puneeth, who had entered the river to swim, got caught in the current and was washed away. It is learned that Balaji, who went to save him, also drowned in the water.

Firefighters have reached the spot to find the dead body of another lecturer and are conducting a search.
