Murder of a woman by suffocating her mouth with a cloth

The incident of suffocating the wife of an Irrigation Department engineer by stuffing her mouth with a cloth has come to light in Vijayanagar, Shimoga.

Kamalamma (54) is the murdered woman. When no one else was in the house, the assailants suffocated him by stuffing a cloth over his mouth.

Kamalamma is the wife of Mallikarjuna, an executive engineer at Tarikere Ajjampur, Chikkamagaluru. Mallikarjuna had gone to Goa with friends.

Both husband and son phoned Kamalamma during the night but did not receive the call. Because of this, Mallikarjuna called his acquaintances and neighbors and told them to come and look at the house.

Even the house bulbs were not switched on. When he opened the door of the house with suspicion, Kamalamma's dead body was found in the kitchen.

Tunganagar police visited the spot and registered a case and started investigation.
