1 killed in firing in Delhi ahead of G20 summit: Bilal Gani arrested, search for others
Ahead of G20 summit in national capital, a 36-year-old man - Harpreet Gill - shot dead in Subhash Vihar, Bhajanpura, Delhi and another man injured and admitted to a hospital, after five youths on two-wheelers opened unprovoked firing at them before fleeing the spot.
CCTV footage in the area are being scanned. A case of murder has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.
One person named Bilal Gani alias Mallu (18 years old) has been arrested in connection with the Bhajanpura murder case.
The arrested accused along with his 4 other associates were involved in a road rage with the deceased and the injured person, says Joy N Tirkey, DCP Northeast.
Akshay, the deceased's uncle says, "He was shot in his head. I don't know why did this happen. He had no enmity with anyone. I have requested the Police to check the CCTV visuals..."
Delhi Police says, "It was found that Harpreet (deceased) and Govind (injured) were on their bike near Gali No. 8 when five boys on a scooty and a bike intercepted them. The assailants opened unprovoked fire and ran away from the spot. CCTV in the area is being scanned. Efforts are being made to identify the culprits. The real reason behind the firing incident is being ascertained. Case of murder has been registered. Further investigation is in progress."
Joy N Tirkey, DCP Northeast, says "... Both the victims were going on a motorcycle... From the initial investigation, we have known that there were 4-5 people on two-wheelers. All of a sudden there was a firing after a verbal argument... Harpreet was shot in his head and his maternal uncle Govind was also shot in his head, but he was stable. I was able to talk to him last night... We are working on some suspects. Yes, that (Maya Gang) is one of the suspects... Criminals can be 4 to 5 in number."
