Finally, after 31 years, Pooje has started in Gnanavapi premises
Today (February 1) finally after 31 years worship started in Jnanavapi campus. On the petition of Hindus, Varanasi court granted the right to worship in Vyas basement of Jnanavapi.
Yesterday, the Gnanavapi Masjid Committee unsuccessfully sought an urgent hearing in the Supreme Court challenging the Varanasi district court's order. The Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal of Gnanavapi Masjid Committee against the order allowing worship.
A large number of people have come to worship at the Vyasa basement of Gnanavapi since morning. The DM said that the order of the district court has been followed.
After a court order, the barricades were removed from the basement overnight. After this, people started gathering for worship from morning itself. Puja started under tight administrative security.
Hours after the district court passed the order on January 31 afternoon, the Anjuman Intejamia Masajid Management Committee of Varanasi filed an urgent petition in the Supreme Court seeking status quo at the mosque site.
The right of worship has been handed over to the Kashi Vishwanath Trust. Vishwanath Temple Chief Priest Om Prakash Mishra and Ganeshwar Dravid, who decided the auspicious muhurat for the installation of Ramlalla Murtha in Ayodhya, conducted the pooja in Beasji's basement.
