Semicon India 2025: PM Modi launched the Vikram 32-bit processor semiconductor chip
At the Semicon India 2025 event in Delhi, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw presented the Vikram 32-bit processor, India’s first domestically developed semiconductor chip, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Vikram Processor marks a major milestone in India's semiconductor mission, symbolizing self-reliance in chip design and manufacturing.
Semicon India 2025, inaugurated by PM Modi alongside Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Jitin Prasada.
Minister Vaishnaw also showcased test chips from four other approved semiconductor initiatives, considered as additional Projects.
The minister emphasized India’s rapid progress in the semiconductor sector, with five fabrication units under construction.
Amid global instability, India is positioning itself as a stable and growth-oriented hub for semiconductor investment. This development is a significant leap in India's ambition to become a global semiconductor powerhouse.
