Major Milestone in the Defense Sector: ISRO LVM3-M5 Carries the Giant Communication Satellite
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) succussfully Launched Vehicle Mark 3 (M5) (LVM3-M5) carrying the communication satellite CMS‑03 (also referred to as GSAT-7R) from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota (SDSC SHAR).
The launch of ISRO’s LVM3-M5 carrying the CMS-03 communication satellite from SDSC/ISRO Sriharikota announces a significant growth in Indian Defence, especially increasing Indian hold on the Ocean.
The satellite CMS-03 has a launch mass of about 4,410 kg, making it the heaviest communication satellite launched from Indian soil into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
The multi-band communications satellite will strengthen India’s maritime/strategic communication infrastructure, especially for navy and remote oceanic regions.
Indian Navy’s GSAT 7R (CMS-03) communication satellite today would be the most advanced communication satellite thus far for the Indian Navy. The satellite would strengthen Navy's space-based communications and maritime domain awareness capabilities. This satellite is India’s heaviest communication satellite to date, weighing approximately 4,400 kg, and includes many indigenous state-of-the-art components developed specifically to meet the Indian Navy’s operational requirements
