The sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express is designed for overnight journeys, offering enhanced comfort with modern berths, improved safety features, and faster travel times compared to conventional express trains.
Railway officials said the new service aims to cater to high passenger demand on one of India’s busiest intercity routes, widely used by business travelers, professionals, and tourists. The train is expected to significantly reduce travel time while providing a premium travel experience.
The approval comes as part of the government’s broader push to modernize Indian Railways with next-generation trains and upgraded infrastructure. The sleeper variant is seen as a key step in expanding the Vande Bharat network beyond short and medium-distance day travel.
While the exact launch date, timetable, and fare structure are yet to be officially announced, preparations are expected to begin soon for operational rollout.
The new service is likely to boost connectivity and economic activity between the two major metro cities, further strengthening India’s fast-evolving rail network.
