Misleading Video : FIR Against Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, Neha Singh Rathore
Raipur: An FIR has been registered against Congress leader and social media head Supriya Shrinate, singer-turned-politician Neha Singh Rathore and others for allegedly circulating an old video in a manner that suggested it was recorded during Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
According to BJP leader Ujjwal Deepak, the video actually dates to March 2026 and shows former Chhattisgarh minister Ajay Chandrakar and BJP workers hoisting the party flag at a private event. The complainants allege that the footage was subsequently shared on social media as if it were live footage from August 15, with the intention of misleading the public and defaming the BJP.
The case has reportedly been registered in Raipur under Sections 353(2), 196 and 336 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The allegations have triggered a political confrontation, with BJP leaders accusing Congress-linked social media accounts of deliberately spreading misinformation. Congress leaders and the other accused are expected to present their response as the investigation progresses.
Police are examining the original video, timestamps, social-media posts and the circumstances in which the footage was circulated to determine whether the alleged offences are established.
Further action will depend on the investigation and forensic verification of the digital material.
